John T. Crone, III, CCIM Education Endowment


John T. Crone, CCIM 
owner of CROLANCO was heavily involved with the real estate community after moving to San Antonio in 1983. He was on the boards of the San Antonio/South Texas Chapter of CCIM, San Antonio Board of REALTORS (SABOR), Realtors Commercial Alliance (RCA), Real Estate Council of San Antonio (RECSA) and South Texas Commercial Realtor Alliance. He had a particular interest in Governmental and Legislative Affairs relating to real estate. He was also on the board of The Lighthouse for the Blind. 

Alfred W. “Tom” Rohde, III, CCIM Education Endowment

Tom is a third-generation real estate broker in San Antonio, Texas. His firm, Rohde, Ottmers & Siegel is the successor to the original Rohde & Co. founded in 1908 by his grandfather Alfred Rohde, Sr. and let by his father Al Rohde, Jr. until 2000. He earned his CCIM designation on November 15, 1976 and was the 658th person to receive their designation. Tom has sold and/or leased over 100 restaurants and developed over 100 shopping centers. Focusing on grocery anchored centers, Tom has developed for Albertson’s, H-E-B Grocery, and Walmart centers and numerous convenience store chains. In addition to retail and restaurants, Tom has been active in land development with projects as large as 2,000 acres to as small as 3-5 acres, specializing in development of corners and future shopping center tracts. Active in ICSC for 45 years and the San Antonio Board of Realtors, Tom has won numerous local awards. His past work includes the Executive Council of the San Antonio Real Estate Council, State Co-Chair of ICSC, and is a past President of the San Antonio/ South Texas CCIM Chapter.

John Vogel, CCIM Education Endowment

Beginning in May 1996, John H. Vogel, CCIM started as a Commercial Broker with Aequus Real Estate Services, then moving to Grubb & Ellis as V.P. of the Industrial Services Group, followed by Kennedy-Wilson as Senior Director of Real Estate, then finally a Principal Partner and Broker at Henry S. Miller Commercial and Board Member of CCIM. Along with his prestigious career, John was involved in a number of important associations including V.P. of Winston School of San Antonio Board of Directors, founding V.P. of the San Antonio Chapter of the American Marketing Association, V.P. of Finance for San Antonio Divers, and coach for various YMCA sports. In 2008, John, along with the San Antonio/South Texas Chapter of CCIM and UTSA, invested their efforts in creating the annual Real Estate Development Project Competition providing college students a chance to earn real-life experience in the real estate development process. 

Background

The San Antonio/South Texas CCIM Chapter Scholarship Program was created to support qualified real estate professionals in their efforts to achieve the CCIM designation, as well as to support college students striving to further their career in the commercial real estate industry. The Chapter's Education Endowments honor John T. Crone, III, CCIM, Tom Rohde, III, CCIM & John Vogel, CCIM as supportive board members of the San Antonio/South Texas CCIM Chapter. The San Antonio/South Texas CCIM Chapter Education Endowments were created by the San Antonio/South Texas CCIM Chapter and it members with the matching funds provided by the CCIM Education Foundation. Named endowed scholarships honor those who have shown great dedication, commitment, outstanding achievement and service to the commercial real estate industry.

Scholarship Description

The Tom Rohde, III, CCIM scholarship will accept applications from commercial real estate professionals. The John T. Crone, III, CCIM & John Vogel, CCIM scholarships will accept applications from commercial real estate professionals & college students.  You only need to complete the application once to be considered for 1 of the 3 scholarships available.  Applications will be evaluated by the Education Endowment Committee of the San Antonio/South Texas CCIM Chapter.  Scholarships will be awarded from each endowment each year.

Commercial Real Estate Professional Requirements

Commercial real estate professionals who receive a scholarship would apply their scholarship towards either CI-101, CI-102, CI-103, or CI-104; in person courses or CCIM virtual course The committee will give preference to real estate professional applicants based on the following:

  • Each applicant should be able to demonstrate a commitment to a commercial real estate career.
  • Each applicant must be committed to the completion of coursework toward earning their CCIM designation.
  • Each applicant should be able to demonstrate active involvement as a dues paying member with the San Antonio/ South Texas CCIM Chapter.
  • Each applicant should be able to fulfill a scholarship recipient requirement to serve on a Chapter committee.

College Student Requirements

College students of junior, senior or graduate standing will be awarded a cash award to be used toward tuition or other educational expenses. The committee will give preference to applicants based on the following:

  • Each applicant should be able to demonstrate a commitment to the commercial real estate industry and the CCIM education.
  • Each applicant should have academic achievement in commercial real estate related course work.
  • Each applicant should be able to demonstrate active involvement as a dues paying member with the San Antonio/ South Texas CCIM Chapter.
